Save Time With These Two Simple WHOIS Bookmarklets

Domain name investors spend a lot of time researching WHOIS information to see if a domain name is available or to contact the owner to make a purchase offer.

I’ve created two simple bookmarklets that allow you to quickly check WHOIS information for a domain name. To save these bookmarklets, simply right-click the links below and bookmark them, or drag the links to your bookmarks toolbar.

The first scenario is that you visit a domain name and see a developed website, and you want to see who owns it.  Just click this bookmarket while on the site and it will open DomainTool WHOIS in a new tab with the domain already filled out:

The second scenario is that you are reading an article and you see a string of text that you want to check availability/WHOIS on. Just highlight the string of text and click this second bookmarklet, it will remove any spaces or punctuation, append “.com” to it, and pop up a new tab for DomainTools WHOIS with the domain already filled out:

TextSelect WHOIS

If you find this useful or have any questions let me know in the comments. Enjoy!

Also, it would be nice if the selected text bookmarklet did not append “.com” if an extension already exists in the selected text !
